Biography:
Valentina E. Balas (SM'07) received the Ph.D. degree in applied electronics and telecommunications from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara. She is currently a Full Professor with the Department of Automatics and Applied Software, Faculty of Engineering, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Romania. She is the author of more than 190 research papers in refereed journals and International Conferences. Her research interests are in intelligent systems, fuzzy control, soft computing, smart sensors, information fusion, modeling, and simulation. She was the General Chair of the International Workshop Soft Computing and Applications from 2005 to 2016 held in Romania and Hungary. She is the Editor-in Chief of the International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms and the International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering, an Editorial Board member of several national and international journals and is an expert evaluator for national and international projects. She participated in many international conferences as Organizer, Session Chair and a member of the International Program Committee. She is a member of EUSFLAT, the ACM, TC–Fuzzy Systems (IEEE CIS), TC–Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), TC–Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS). She was a recipient of the Vice President (Awards) of the IFSA International Fuzzy Systems Association Council from 2013 to 2015. She is a Joint Secretary of of the Governing Council of Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics - A Multidisciplinary Academic Body, India.

Jian Yao, born in December 1975, is from Lianyuan City, Hunan Province, China. He was invited as a specially-appointed professor of “Hubei Scholar” Program of Hubei in 2013. He has participated in many large-scale projects such as the EU's sixth and seventh framework plans, as well as cooperation projects with the International Atomic Energy Agency. In recent years, he has published over 130 papers on international journals including Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision & Image Understanding, International Journal of Robotics Research, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing (TGRS) and CVPR, applied for over 70 IPs and patents, with 30 authorized by the Chinese government. He has long been a reviewer of top journals and conference proceedings. After joining Wuhan University, Prof. Yao has established the WHU-CVRS Lab, which now consists of four advisors, one postdoctoral fellows, 30 PhDs and master students. Prof. Yao has chaired a series of research projects at national and provincial levels, including national key research programs, programs of the 973 Project, and the National Natural Science Fund. Meanwhile, in collaboration with well-known enterprises like Tencent, Huawei and Alibaba, he has initiated a range of joint research programs and talent training projects.
Prof. Zhuliang Yu (IEEE Member)

Biography:
ZhuliangYu, Ph.D., Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Vice Dean of the School of Automation at South China University of Technology. He is recognized as a New Century Excellent Talent by the Ministry of Education and is a key talent selected under the“Thousand-Hundred-Ten”program of Guangdong Province. Dr. Yu received his bachelor's and master's degrees in 1995 and 1998, respectively, from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 2006, he obtained his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. From 2000 to 2008, he conducted research at the Signal Processing Centre of Nanyang Technological University, serving as the leader of a research group. In 2008, he joined the School of Automation Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology and is currently engaged in research in signal processing, machine learning, big data processing, and their applications in brain signal processing, intelligent robotics, and medical data processing.
Dr. Yu has published over 110 papers in international journals and conferences, among which more than 60 are indexed by SCI and over 50 by EI. He has also authored or edited six English books (chapters). Dr. Yu has chaired multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including key and general projects, as well as key projects from the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation and various talent and enterprise cooperation initiatives.
Dr. Yu's major academic roles include serving as an associate editor for the international SCI journal MSSP, a committee member of the Medical Neuroengineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, a committee member of the National Planning Textbook Editorial Board for Intelligent Science and Technology in Higher Education, and an executive committee member of the second session of the Education Working Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, he is a member of the 13th Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a central committee member of the 12th Central Committee of the Democratic League, a standing committee member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Democratic League, the director of the Guangdong Provincial Committee on Science and Technology of the Democratic League, and the chairperson of the Democratic League at South China University of Technology.
